Our Mission.

At AIA California Desert, our mission is to empower and inspire architects to shape a resilient, innovative, and vibrant built environment that reflects the unique character of our desert communities.

We are committed to advancing the value of architecture through advocacy, design excellence, education, and professional leadership. Our chapter fosters collaboration among members, encourages the next generation of architects, and promotes thoughtful stewardship of the region’s architectural heritage and natural surroundings.

What We Do.

We are a local community of architects and design professionals dedicated to:

  • Advocating for the value of architecture and the profession.

  • Providing professional development, continuing education, and networking.

  • Fostering leadership and mentoring the next generation of architects.

We host monthly and quarterly events, including DeserTecture Tours, Thirsty Third Thursday Happy Hours, board meetings, educational gatherings, and more.

Who We Are.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has served as the leading voice for the architecture profession since its founding in 1857. With nearly 300 chapters worldwide, the AIA offers resources and support for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners at the national, state, and local levels.

Our chapter, the AIA California Desert Chapter, was founded in 1985 to serve architects, associates, and professional affiliates in the desert communities of Eastern Riverside County. We are a vibrant and growing network of professionals who are passionate about design excellence and regional advocacy.
